The OHV Farmers Market is back for the 2025 season!
The daffodils are blooming again, which means the Farmers Market season in Old Hickory Village (OHV) is just around the corner! For years, the Old Hickory Village Farmers Market has been a cherished part of our community, and we are thrilled to welcome it back for the 2025 season. We had the opportunity to speak with Tina Waller, the Farmers Market Coordinator, about what exciting things we can expect this year.
HOHV: How did the OHV Farmers Market begin?
Tina: The market began in 2017 as a small community initiative with around seven vendors at the First Baptist Church in the Village. When the pandemic struck in the spring of 2020, our market transitioned to a drive-through format for one season. This change significantly boosted our popularity, leading to tremendous growth over the next couple of years. We recently held our largest market ever during the closing event of the 2024 season, featuring 50 different vendors who helped us celebrate the end of the season.
HOHV: What can we expect for the 2025 season?
Tina: Food trucks, artisan foods, produce, eggs, handmade goods, community information booths, live music and a fun place to connect with friends and neighbors!
HOHV: Who are some of the vendors this year?
Tina: We have many returning vendors this year, including almost all the popular food trucks that everyone loves. One of the favorites is Fried Green Tomatoes, which has been a part of our market the longest and has been coming for years! We are also excited to welcome back Angela's Busy Bees Gardens & Homestead, who is returning after being absent since 2022. She will be offering plant starts, homegrown produce, eggs, homemade bread, and jams. Additionally, several new vendors, farmers, and local organizations will be joining us this year!
HOHV: What about the kids zone? Are there some fun crafts we can expect for families?
Tina: The Village Kidz booth offers a variety of fun activities each year, including crafts, art projects, and games. This initiative is a ministry of FBC at the Village, and they consistently introduce new and creative activities for kids to enjoy at the market.
HOHV: How can neighbors support the market this year?
Tina: Help spread the word... Invite neighbors and friends to come each week and support our local small businesses and farmers!
HOHV: Anything else you'd like to add?
Tina: Our market season runs from April through mid-September each year. Many people have mentioned that they often forget to come to the market on Tuesdays. To help you remember, please add a reminder to your calendar or phone for every Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM, starting with our opening market on April 1st!
