Councilman Eslick tackles large truck traffic

Councilman Jeff Eslick has been working to decrease the amount of large trucks traveling on residential streets in Rayon City.

Eslick has been active in the Rayon City Facebook group in recent days documenting his efforts to turn trucks around on Bridgeway Avenue. New signs indicating vehicles over eight tons are not permitted.

He states that he sent a list of restricted roads to several trucking companies on Swinging Bridge Road. One company, Jit-Ex, is relocating their terminal to Lebanon which will reduce truck traffic in the area. However, we recently learned that Old Dominion has been approved to construct a truck terminal at 790 Burnett Road.

Eslick will be leaning on Motor Carrier Division troopers to enforce truckers taking approved routes. This likely means the bulk of approved truck traffic should flow from Robinson Road through Industrial Drive to reach Swinging Bridge Road.

Additionally, Eslick states that he requested troopers enforce large truck traffic around Shute Lane and Hadley Avenue as well.
